Parlour Projects is pleased to present Tom Mackie: Information Excavation, on view in the gallery mezzanine from October 6 through November 3, 2018.
In Information Excavation, Mackie presents work that responds to the environment in which it exists. Prompting architectural investigations, the work and space co-exist. Static images are mobilised, and viewers are encouraged to slow down the process of looking.
In certain works, such as Brut and The Passing of Time, Mackie uses the frame as a device. In other works, such as Infinity of Tendencies and Middle Bronze Period, he explores image reproduction, playing and intervening with found archival material, altering existing imagery and evoking new narratives and possible futures. These works question the way history and events are documented and subsequently remembered, dragging accepted notions of archive and history into more unsettling territory.
The public is invited to attend an opening reception for Information Excavation on Saturday, October 6, from 11am to 1pm at 306 Eastbourne Street East, Hastings. An exhibition by Harry Culy, Event Horizon, will open concurrently in the gallery. For further information or enquiries please email sophie@parlourprojects.com.
